 The Weakest Link

Boot Campers, have you ever seen a suit of armor? Today's Boot Campers Minute is about a medieval suit of armor called "chain mail". This is a suit of armor consisting of lots of adjoining chain links. The object was to create a suit that entirely covered a knight's body with these connecting links. The desired effect was that the suit could not be penetrated by arrow or lance or sword. The chain mail would deflect the other knight's weapon or prevent the weapon from penetrating the suit.

Of course there were problems that were caused by the shape of the human body. There were some places in the chain mail suit of armor that were weaker than other spots. Archers and swordsmen were trained to concentrate on the "weakest links" in their opponent's armor. The neck and the armpit, for example, were spots where the locking links were not as strong because of the curves and bends of the body.

That is where we get the term, "the weakest link". A suit of armor was only as strong as its weakest link.

If your goal was to reduce your body fat, lower your overall body weight and tone your muscles, what part of your plan of action is your weakest link?

Nutrition? Resistance Training? Moderate Aerobic activity? Rest & Recovery?

Use your memory and go back to your school days, when different parts of the class you were in made up your total grade and your teachers used to grade your papers with 100% being an A+ and 50% being an F-

Are you ready… your in class Boot Camp

Nutrition = 25 points

Resistance Training =25 points

Moderate Aerobic activity = 25 points

Rest & Recovery = 25 points

Total = 100 points

OK, you probably have the Rest & Recovery part pretty well mastered give yourself 20 points

Now Moderate Aerobic activity if you rate your effort level at camp as an 8 you get 20 points which is 80% of 25

Now Resistance Training if you rate your effort level at camp as an 8 you get 20 points which is 80% of 25

Now Nutrition if you only do half of the nutrition plan in your journal (That means you did every other day perfectly) you only get half of the possible points 12.5 points 

 

Total score = 72.5

Possible score = 100

Your Grade = C –

If your children came home with that grade on there report card from a project you had to pay your hard earned money for …………. What would you tell them?

Each area needs to be done with your best effort, for you to have a chance to succeed.  And even if you do everything right...LIFE may through a "STRESSFUL" event your way and screw everything up.  You can quit....and no one cares....but you will always know!
